He’s the plaster on the walls of the Chateau d’If. He’s killing time. Ryan O’Melia is a self-possessed ghost, a haunting and haunted villain of the post modern chamber. He’s a dilettante. Disconnected. As a musician, Ryan has made over a 100 records under numerous pseudonyms e.g. Estelle Red, Niko Bankston, Pip, Dot Chem, Evan Crimm, Okazaki Fragments and has only recently been recording under his real name. He is also a member of the avant-garde pop beat group Vitronok. Ryan has directed and edited music videos under the moniker Ra Blacks. His ‘Popcorn’ video, released in early June of 2011, was reviled and similarly revered for it’s commentary on what Ryan has described as “backyard culture.” Critics of the video scoffed at the obscene look into the oddities of poor, megalomaniacal people. “It’s exploitative, yes.” remarked Ryan.
Ryan has also starred in a number of theatre productions, the most recent of which was The Woman in Black at Stages Theater in Fullerton. Ryan lives in Southern California and is currently working on a degree in Biology. Below are a few of his projects and free releases.
